If you wish to be married by the Clerk at the courthouse, an appointment must be made in advance. Please call the Clerk's office for an appointment.

Fees:

  • Clark County Residents $25 + $4 document fee = $29
  • Out of State Residents $65 + $4 document fee = $69
License Validity:
You will receive the application on the same day you apply. The application will expire sixty (60) days after being issued. The application is valid only if the marriage is performed within the State of Indiana.

If you are applying for a marriage license in Clark County, you may start the application process online.  Click here to familiarize yourself with the process.  While you will still have to appear at the Clerk's Office to complete the process and receive your license (as required by Indiana law), starting your application online will save you time at the Clerk's Office.

After you complete the online portion, both individuals will need to appear at the Clerk's Office to complete the process. You can complete your application Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:00pm. The Courthouse is closed on Saturday, Sunday and legal holidays. Please allow 30 minutes to complete the process.

Applicants will need at least one (1) of the following:

  • Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Certified Court Decree Establishing Date of Birth
  • Valid Driver's License or Other State-Issued ID Establishing Date of Birth
  • Any Other Official Documentation That the Clerk Deems Sufficient

After completing the online and in-person portion for the marriage application, if you wish to be married in the clerk’s office please click the link below to schedule.
