Invitation to submit Hay samples - Hay Quality and nutrition analysis

As part of the Forage quality workshop organized by Clark County Extension for September 10, 2019, the Extension office is inviting Clark County residents to submit hay samples for laboratory analysis to be used by Dr. Keith Johnson and Dr. Nicholas Minton of Purdue University for the meeting.

Lab analysis will be done at no cost to owners. This is an opportunity to know the nutrient quality of your hay and to have Purdue forage Experts give you advice on what you need to do to improve the feeding needs of your animals based on the test results.

Two plastic shopping bags full of hay samples are required. One will be sent to the lab and the other used during the workshop. Hay samples should be randomly taken from at least 10 hay bales and mixed together.

Five hay samples are required so acceptance of hay samples will be based on first come first served. Please bring your samples to the Extension office labelled with your name a description of your hay (e.g. legume grass mixed, timothy, alfalfa, etc.).

This is opened to anyone that feeds hay and/or silage to livestock and horses in Clark County.

The closing date for taking hay samples is August 29, 2019

If you have questions please call the Clark County Extension office (Tel: 812-256-4591) or email Simon Kafari (skafari@Purdue.edu
